S.O.A.P.
why s.O.A.P.?
At Christpoint, we long to see every believer encounter God personally every day through His Word. When we spend time in Scripture, we start to understand God’s heart and how He responds to life. Daily devotions reshape our thinking, renew our minds, and lead us toward becoming more like Jesus.
One helpful practice is S.O.A.P. journaling. It’s a simple, practical way to capture and process what God highlights to you as you read. As a church, we will be SOAPing the same passages each day so that we can grow in unity and come together on Wednesday nights to talk about what God is showing us. Having your reflections written down makes it easier to revisit those truths and engage well in these conversations.
Even though journaling is a personal moment with God, there may be times when sharing what you’ve written with a spouse, friend, or small group brings deeper understanding and encouragement. Conversations around God’s Word can open the door to new revelation and mutual growth.
To get started, all you need is a Bible, a pen, and a journal!
How do we S.O.A.P.?

What jumps out at you? Are there any attributes of God written within the passage? What truths are within the passage? Does the passage contain any wisdom, instructions, promises, or correction? Is there repetition, comparison, or contrast? Is there something you didn’t notice before about the passage?
A
Application
Personalize what you read by applying it to your life in a practical way. As you read over the passage, is there a specific action that you need to take or a confession that you need to make? Write how you can apply this passage to your life.
